Whoah, didn't know there were bugs this big in Illinois. This is called a Hickory Horned Devil.

I found him in the yard while I was cutting the grass in the summer of '97. He is now sleeping in his pre-moth state in the Greenville High School Science Lab. The resulting moth is called a Great Walnut Moth. We hope the kids at school will get to see the metamorphosis.

Spring '98 -- There must have been something wrong with this one. He never competed his life cycle.
